MPS - Management of Partnership with Suppliers
MPS is, to ENVISS PRODUCTS, a very important process which strategically intervenes in the PROENVISS system tool through I-T-Search (executive system) and its industry tools. It was created in our company at the time when „clienting” was booming, which was solely and explicitly devoted to customers and the supplier was chosen as a necessarily conforming servant and it was not important to consider its needs, knowledge, and abilities. One got the order and it was up to him to decide how to fulfill it and only price, deadlines, and penalties were discussed with the suppliers. We require good prices and performance within deadlines and under penalties, but as an added value we also offer our information, experience, and control systems to the supplier. However, it is fair to acknowledge that at the time of worldwide general growth of orders and especially in countries of the former eastern block, where the centralism of the economy was a de facto monopoly of the state enterprises, the habits and behavior of manufacturers and suppliers were often not very compatible with the partnership definition and the consumers were often in the role of hostage between the manufacturer and the end user, deadlines were especially terrible and the quality suffered in favor of quantity, which even brought heart-attack experiences when handling complaints. Now, there is a great change, it is the time that MPS and ENVISS PRODUCTS considers itself as one of the pioneers of this process, as well as one of the diehard promoters of ISO, which, if really functioning and well managed, brings fantastic possibilities in MPS and MPC.
Simplified: MPS is, in our case, the setting of the processes between ENVISS PRODUCTS and its contractors with the goal of satisfying the needs of the customers. Therefore, it is helpful in managing the entire supplier’s chain on process bases which especially include:
1. Knowing the supplier and management of it’s company, it’s environment, manufacturing/supplier abilities, achieved results, and estimates of its future potential (solved using our own “ENVISS-AUDITOR” audit system)
2. Help with the fulfillment, production, and assembly of the order in the form of continuous monitoring of the manufacturing and assembly time schedules, application of control days of the production and assembly, and help when accepting corrective and preventive measures with respect to the future.
3. Processing knowledge, results, and outputs in information files and units which are subsequently used as an evaluation of realization and feedback. This creates a strong information platform focused on the I-T-Search system with an effect on the whole PROENVISS, which also serves for improvement of the quality of the selected (accredited) suppliers, further development within the engineering activities of ENVISS PRODUCTS, and subsequent use in the field.
The supplier is, for us, as important a partner as the customer. We help it in its activities, we request from it adherence to its obligations, and we adhere to our obligations at least to the same extent as it does towards us.
